How to Use AI for Interior Design
A free, step-by-step walkthrough for restyling any room, exterior, or landscape from a single photo. No design background required.
Why use AI for interior design?
AI interior design tools let you preview new layouts, finishes, and styles in seconds, before committing to paint, furniture, or renovation. Instead of hiring a designer just to explore options, you can upload a photo and see your space rendered in dozens of directions. Rinnova Spaces does this for free to try, with three studio modes covering Interior, Exterior, and Landscape projects.
Step 1: Take a clear photo
Stand in a corner and capture as much of the room (or yard, or facade) as possible. Good natural light, a steady camera, and a wide angle give the AI the most context to work with. Avoid heavy filters; the cleaner the input, the more accurate the restyle.
Step 2: Pick the right studio mode
- Interior: living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, offices, bathrooms. Use this for furniture, finishes, and decor changes.
- Exterior: facades, entryways, and building elevations. Test paint colors, siding, roofing, and lighting.
- Landscape: backyards, gardens, pools, and hardscape. Try out planting, patios, and outdoor living areas.
Step 3: Choose a design style
Rinnova Spaces ships with 21+ styles, from Scandinavian and Japandi to Industrial, Mediterranean, and Mid-Century Modern. Start with two or three styles you like and compare results side by side. If you are unsure, pick a style close to what you already own, then branch outward.
Step 4: Add a short prompt (optional)
You do not need to write a prompt, but a short one helps. Stick to nouns and adjectives: "warm oak floors, cream sofa, black accents" gives the AI clear direction without overconstraining it. Avoid vague words like "nice" or "modern" on their own.
Step 5: Generate and refine
Generate a few variations, then pick a favorite and iterate. Small prompt changes (swap "linen curtains" for "velvet drapes") often produce dramatically different results. Save the renders you like to your account so you can compare them later.
Step 6: Use the result
Take the final image to a contractor, painter, or furniture store. AI renders are reference, not blueprints, but they communicate intent far better than a Pinterest board. Many users bring renders to in-store consultations to speed up selection.
Is AI interior design free?
Rinnova Spaces offers a free trial so you can test the studio without paying upfront. Paid plans unlock higher resolutions, more generations per month, and commercial use. See pricing for current plans.
Tips for better results
- Shoot in daylight, with curtains open.
- Clear clutter so the AI focuses on the space, not the mess.
- Generate 3 to 5 variations per style before judging.
- Mix styles: try the same room as Japandi and as Industrial.
- Save references for the contractor, not just yourself.
